PhD Position

We are offering a PhD position within the newly funded transregional collaborative research grant (TRR 379) “Neuropsychobiology of Aggression: A transdiagnostic approach in mental disorders”.

This project combines behavioral testing, functional neuroimaging, computational modeling, and virtual reality to assess complex (non-)aggressive decision strategies in both cartoon-like and naturalistic contexts. Study populations will include adults with and without clinical disorders and high levels of aggression.

Requirements: Applicants must hold a Master's degree or equivalent in a field such as neuroscience, psychology, physics, biology, biomedical sciences, etc. Excellent programming skills are mandatory. A clinical psychology background is desirable.

Specifications: The project is conducted in close collaboration with Prof. Klaus Mathiak at RWTH Aachen. The candidate will be integrated into a vibrant transregional research community (Aachen, Frankfurt, Mannheim, Heidelberg) which provides structured course work, a network of young researchers, workshops, lecture series, lab rotations, and more. The position is funded as a (TV-L 13, 65%) for a period of 3 to 4 years, with the earliest starting date in October 2024.

Short-term Research Assistant Positions

We also offer short-term research assistant positions for 2 to 4 months. We are looking for individuals with a Master’s degree who are interested in helping with programming and/or clinical assessments for ongoing studies.
